True
to the motto “An Eagle is No
Ordinary Barnyard Fowl” the
originators of the Baltimore Chapter-
NCCU Alumni were no ordinary graduates.
In the home of Mildred and Robert
Stephens, in the mid 1960’s
began the nucleus of what was initially
a coming together of friends to socialize.
From these initial gatherings was
formed the Baltimore Alumni Chapter
and it would soon be chartered by
the National Alumni Association also
in its infancy in Durham, NC.
The
alumni and friends met regularly and
forged a bound of support of their
alma mater.

The
core group of alumni continued to
network through various professional
organizations and community associations.
They spearheaded social events, fundraisers
for scholarships and all in support
of their alma mater, North Carolina
College now North Carolina Central
University.
By
1968 they had communication with fellow
Eagles in Washington, DC and Philadelphia.
A meeting of the three groups organized
what was to become Region I of the
national alumni. This organization
of active North –East chapters
form a strong support of the university
and alumni.
Baltimore,
the District of Columbia, and Philadelphia,
remain active in every aspect of alumni
affairs. From Alumni Council to past
Regional Vice-presidents
